It’s that time of year again: another Apple smartphone release is on the horizon, and hordes of tech junkies will soon be camping out to become one of the first to get their hands on a shiny new iPhone 11.
With a new & improved, but always recognisable design, improved camera, impressive battery life and choice of 6 colours, the iPhone is well-positioned to conquer the world yet again in 2019.
If all these features weren’t enough to entice you, the iPhone 11 has the added benefit of being cheaper than last year’s iPhone XR release, coming in at a cool £729. At Staff Treats, we’re proud to be tech fanatics, and we want to share the excitement with you: members of our employee benefits scheme can nab a special discount on pre-ordering the iPhone 11. Here’s a few reasons you might consider doing so.
iPhone 11 Design
When it comes to design, the iPhone 11 looks very similar to the iPhone XR. It has a 6.1 inch display, a premium feel, and is impressively powerful – especially for its lower price.
Apple have also said that the iPhone 11 is more water-resistant and less fragile than the XR: both improvements that are sure to please clumsy smartphone users.
Unfortunately, the iPhone 11 doesn’t support 5G, but it does boast super speedy WiFi connectivity, which can come in handy in crowded areas.
In a departure from their usual neutral colour palette, the iPhone 11 offers six colours to choose from: Product(RED), black, white, yellow, green and purple. The colours are muted and sophisticated, but eye-catching.
Apple has also continued its partnership with HIV and AIDS charity (RED): by choosing the red iPhone, you will be making a contribution to this important cause.
Nevertheless, word on the street has it that the purple and green options are selling like hotcakes, so pre-order soon to guarantee that you get your hands on your colour of choice.
iPhone 11 Battery Life
One of the best things about the iPhone 11 is its improved battery life. Short battery life has long plagued iPhone users and drawn negative press to previous releases: after all, we’ve all been in the situation of searching frantically for a plug to charge our phones in the middle of the day.
Battery life is becoming increasingly important as more people choose to watch video on their phones, track their exercise via Bluetooth-connected accessories, and endlessly scroll Instagram – all of which, especially combined, can quickly drain a battery.
Last year’s iPhone XR boasted a small improvement in battery life compared to previous models, but the iPhone 11 beats this, with claims that its battery will last for an hour longer.
This should mean that your phone will stay charged for the whole day, as well as part of the next day. One issue pointed out by critics is that the iPhone 11 does not come with a fast charger, meaning it will take a few hours to reach full charge when the time comes.
iPhone 11 Camera
Perhaps the most exciting development of the iPhone 11 is the improved camera. Year on year, Apple continues to delight us with exponential improvements in image quality, and this year is no exception. Sensors have been added to the back of the new iPhone to enable users to take wide-angle photos in addition to standard pics.
The sensors may take some getting used to from a visual perspective, sticking out from the back of the phone and making it a little less sleek, but that’s the tradeoff for exceptional images. Thanks to these lenses, the phone also has impressive video capabilities, and you can switch between them without any negative impact on the quality of the video.
The iPhone 11’s portrait mode, first introduced in the iPhone X, does a fantastic job of keeping the main subject in focus while blurring the background, imitating the aperture control of a DSLR camera and making images feel more professional.
It also does an amazing job of taking clear photos in low light conditions, which is more than can be said for many DSLRs. You’ll find that viewing images and videos on the iPhone 11 is a treat too, thanks to a smart display that is clear and visible, even in bright sunlight.
