It’s the same old story every December as one year draws to a close and another is on the horizon. We’re all full of positivity about what we’re going to achieve in the new year, but by mid-late January, we normally hit a brick wall. In this post, we’re going to look at how you can start the cycle of change and make new years resolutions for 2020 that you will actually stick to.
Be Realistic
Set realistic, attainable goals for yourself to achieve - that way, you’re much more likely to stick to any resolutions you make.
Plan
Don’t leave it until New Year’s Eve to plan what you’re going to change in 2020 - do it now.
Make a Contingency Plan
Decide how you’ll deal with stumbling blocks and hurdles - how will you distract yourself if you’re tempted to go against your resolutions.
Share it
Don’t keep your resolutions a secret - share them with friends, colleagues, relatives and anyone else who may be able to encourage you to stick to your plan. The more support you can get, the better.
Treat Yourself
Celebrate your successes and treat yourself in a way that doesn’t contradict your resolutions.
And Most Importantly - Stick With it
It takes 21 days for a change to become a habit and six months for it to become part of your personality. So whatever your goals are for 2020, stick with it and be persistent.
