Roses are red, violets are blue… and Valentine's Day is a great time to treat your staff with an appreciation for the great job they do. That’s right, the 14th February doesn’t just need to be about flowers, chocolates and candlelit dinners, it’s also a great time to show some gratitude to your staff. In this blog, we look at how you can show your team some love this Valentines Day.

While Valentines Day might not necessarily be a day you associate with work, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be.  It provides you with the opportunity to show your employees that you care, celebrate the unity and team-attitude you share and gives you an opportunity to remind everyone why they love working at your company.

Here’s a few of our top tips to celebrate Valentine's Day with your staff.

1. Treat Your Team to Lunch

Lunch might not sound like a big deal, but booking out some time for you and your team to spend together away from your normal work environment actually is. It’s a great way of showing thanks to your employees and gives you an opportunity to openly praise and thank them

2. Share the Love

Why not ask your team why they love their job and the company that they work for? Compile the responses and share them with the whole team. If someone is having an off day, seeing what others appreciate about the workplace will give them a boost.

3. Drinks on You

Why not enjoy a drink with your team? It doesn’t have to be alcoholic, but it gives your team a chance to have a breather and bond with one another. Bring a bottle of bubbly and some soft drinks and take a minute to celebrate your team.

4. Secret Cupid

Think Secret Santa, but with a Valentine's Day twist.  Have every team member who wants to participate pick a colleague’s name randomly out of a basket. They’ll then keep this name a secret and on Valentine’s Day, employees leave little gifts for who they chose on their desk. Stuck for ideas? Check out our portal for discounts on Valentine’s gifts

5. Dress up (or Down)

Use Valentine’s Day as an excuse for a fundraiser. Ask your employees to dress in traditional Valentine’s colours and make a small donation towards a good cause. Give the money collected to your office charity of choice.
